We then turned to the Bourbon dynasty, particularly to how French kings and ministers tried to make France superior to Hapsburg countries.
Students have a project that follows the events in this chapter and will be due at the end of the semester in January. Choose a royal family and make a tri-fold brochure for tourists who will visit a palace or other building built by that family. For example: the Bourbon Family - the Palace of Versaiiles. Include the following information:
- Visitor information - location, how to get there, days and hours of operation, costs, contact information such as web site and phone number, etc. Include photos of the site, of family members, and any other relevant items, as well as maps.
- Things to see at the site
- Historical information about the family. What are they known for? Include major events, buildings,, art, etc. that members of the family are known for. For instance, members of the Bourbon family who died in the French revolution, the Hohenzollern king who hired a son of J. S. Bach as his chief musician,a Bible translation published on orders of a Stuart king, etc.
I strongly recommend using Microsoft Publisher to create your brochure. It is easier to place items and move them around using Publisher than Word of most other word processors.
When you have completed your brochure, please do the following:
1. print and turn in to your teacher
2. email the document to your teacher to include in your portfolio
