We studied the Korean War and watched a civil defense film from the 1950s, Duck and Cover, about surviving a nuclear attack. Students began answering a series of questions about the Cold War. We also watched the CNN Student News and turned in the map of Europe in the Cold War.

Students worked on the map of Cold War Europe. We took the Socrative quiz over Chapter 17, then continued a PowerPoint lecture on the origins of the Cold War.
The map is due at the beginning of class next Monday. We continued our PowerPoint lecture on the origins of the Cold War. Students then downloaded the Socrative app or went to www.socrative.com. Students used Socrative to write about Truman's policy to stop the spread of communism. Everyone was successfully able to submit their answer.
Students have a map assignment of Cold War Europe to begin completing. We will take some time in class Thursday to work on it together. Be sure to study for the quiz over Chapter 17 on Thursday and bring your device to class. We discussed terms and origins of the Cold War today. Class was shortened for students to have their school pictures taken.
Students completed the Summer News 2015 assignment from Thursday and handed it in. Students who finished early began reading Chapter 17. We looked at the World History website and downloaded the Syllabus, which we then read together. I presented a short lecture on the use of atomic weapons at the end of WWII, focusing on the bombing of Hiroshima.
Welcome to World History. I am here to help you reach your goals this year. Please contact me in person at school or by email with any questions about the class.
